About the role

We believe important stories must be told and none are more important than the millions of people in the UK that have been left behind.

Beam creates human-centred technology that have empowered over 4,000 people to overcome barriers to stable employment and housing. We deliver this impact by partnering with over 90 local authorities and major Central Government departments.

You’ll work directly with our Founder and CEO and senior leaders to tell the success stories of working with people and government bodies, helping to grow our reputation in the public sector and among prospective employees.

Using an incredible craft for effective storytelling and a strong network in the media, together we’ll position Beam as the leader in technology and AI for welfare services.

You’ll be

• Managing the whole PR lifecycle - practising the entire PR lifecycle, from idea generation to prepping media lists, pitching and media training

• Securing press opportunities - landing a series of Tier 1 and specialist trade press opportunities; sharing stories of our impact and innovation in the sector

• Strategic with PR - smart about building a PR roadmap to maximise our positive exposure, while remaining alert to reactive opportunities

• Collaborating with partners - building strong working relationships with communications professionals at many government partners

• Immersed in tech - passionate about the innovation of welfare services and AI for good

• Networking - a face for Beam’s PR, you’ll spark conversations at in-person events and manage relationships with leading journalists and commentators

You are

• Passionate - about using PR and storytelling to transform how government can raise the bar on services for those left behind

• Strategic and hands-on - entrepreneurial and love rolling up your sleeves to make something happen, but can also plan and execute an impactful PR strategy

• A PR expert - you’ll have a stellar background in securing tier 1 and specialist press hits in agencies and / or startups to grow the reputation of a brand in a complex sector

• Aninfinite learner - you may have no or limited experience of working with government but you’re someone who loves to learn and be in the detail

• A natural networker - someone who can build strong relationships with journalists, other organisations’ comms leaders while interfacing with senior figures in government and business

• Goal-driven - able to work with discipline to ambitious impact targets and be a bar raiser for direct reports and others

• Adaptable - you thrive on ambiguity, and are energised by the idea of working in a scaling tech company, getting your hands dirty in a fast-moving and ambitious startup
