Operations Support Associate

Bloom & Wild

Bloom & Wild

Customer Service, Operations
Nuneaton, UK
Posted on Jun 26, 2024
Hi, we’re Bloom & Wild. We don’t just send flowers. We help our customers to care wildly. Caring wildly is celebrating the little things we all do for each other every day. Not just the big occasions. It’s being there for the highs. Stepping up for the lows.
Care has been at the heart of our business from the start. From the products we source, and the packaging we send them in, to the way we look after our colleagues, our customers, our planet, and the communities around us.
Founded in 2013, our mission back then was to make sending and receiving flowers the joy that it should be, by harnessing technology, brand and letterbox delivery. We announced £75 million Series D funding in 2021 and that same year acquired bloomon in The Netherlands and Bergamotte in France. Together, we’ve fulfilled and delivered over 20 million orders (and counting!), making us the largest direct to consumer flower business in Europe.
Now home to a family of 3 beautiful brands, we’re driven by our vision to create the destination for making life a little more thoughtful and beautiful. And we won't stop at flowers and plants. Starting with the Bloom & Wild brand, we're expanding our gifting offering to other categories like cakes, candles and cocktails. This is all part of our ambition to build Europe's #1 direct to consumer gifting destination.
🛠️ Operations @ Bloom & Wild Group
The Operations team at Bloom & Wild is split broadly into three sub-teams, although in practice these sub-teams all work very closely together:
1. Flower sourcing, styling, and quality - this team is responsible for purchasing our fresh products like flowers and plants, mainly through direct collaboration with growers around the world. They also manage our inbound supply chain and work closely with our flower supply chain partners to optimise quality and costs. Within our own and 3rd party warehouses, they monitor and optimise for styling and quality.
2. Warehouse Operations - Across our 3 strong brands we have various warehouses across the EU. The teams based at these sites run our daily production and fulfilment operation of all products we sell. The non-horti procurement of add-ons and packaging items is also part of the scope of this team. They optimise for customer satisfaction, On Time-In Full fulfilment, quality, and associated COGS.
3. Logistics & 3rd party fulfilment - managing our partially outsourced sourcing, production and fulfilment in the UK and optimising our delivery organisation in all countries we are active in. The team works closely with our carrier partners (and coordinating our own delivery network) to achieve operational excellence and optimise for customer satisfaction, delivery performance, capacity and associated COGS.
As a member of the ‘own fulfilment team,’ our Operations Support Associate will be based at the UK Innovation Centre which is situated just outside of Nuneaton, and within easy reach of Coventry M6. Our UIC opened in July 2021 and fulfils orders as part of the range expansion plans.
🛠️ The role and ways of working
As an Operations Support Associate, you’ll be an integral part of the site management team and take responsibility for supporting the onsite Operational Management team with creating a world-class fulfilment centre across different departments. You'll have a direct reporting line to Zsanett, our Head of Warehouse, and will be supported by the wider Operations Team (and the rest of the Bloom & Wild team of course!).
Everything you do will reflect the strong culture and values we’ve been establishing across our business since day one. You’ll be hugely operationally focused, ensuring that we continue to deliver on our mission to delight our customers with every product they receive.

⚙️ What you'll be doing:

  • Support our Senior Operations Manager with operational improvements across Production and Fulfilment, seeking new ways of operating and initiatives
  • Own smaller improvement projects
  • Gather, analyse, and present data (qualitative and quantitative) to support decision making on-site
  • Support the implementation of new warehouse tooling, by for example immersing yourself in the software and being able to teach the end-users; creating training materials, visualising workflows
  • Be the master trainer on site, understand procedures, and support new starter training
  • Support daily operations during peak or where required
  • Own IT and printing equipment setup and servicing on-site (with additional support from the IT team)
  • Advocate and enforce the site safety procedures, support Health and Safety improvements and new implementations
  • Play an active role in contributing to effective cross-team working/departmental projects and provide cover for colleagues as required.

✅ You:

  • 1-4 years experience in an Operations Support or analytics function in a warehouse environment (horticultural/food manufacturing or e-commerce fulfilment experience is a plus but not essential)
  • Bachelor degree in business is a plus
  • Good MS office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and comfortable reporting data using Excel/Google Sheets
  • Pragmatic ability to identify an issue and problem-solve to resolution
  • Good time management skills
  • Previous experience with warehouse software is a plus (eg. ERP, fulfilment tooling, etc.)
  • Some experience in stakeholder management
  • Self-starter and comfortable working independently
  • Fluent in English, both written and verbal
  • You’ll embody all of our values: Stay Open Be Curious, Think Deeply Act Swiftly, Care Wildly, Lead Change For Good, in everything that you do.
  • This role will require you to work the majority of the time on-site from Monday to Friday
These are some of the skills and experience we think will enable success in this role, but please don’t worry if you are missing some of these. We’re committed to building a team made up of different strengths, skills and experiences, so if you’re excited about our values, passionate about what you do and would like to join us in doing things more thoughtfully, we’d love to hear from you.
🧭 Our ways of working
We do things a little bit differently. From inventing letterbox flowers to founding The Thoughtful Marketing Movement. We’re big on collaboration, empathy, knowledge sharing and growth, and our values drive our priorities every day:
Lead change for good: we have the guts to try new things and step up to do what matters most
Think deeply, act swiftly: we make sure there’s thoughtful rationale behind our approach and always act swiftly to implement ideas
Care wildly: we pour care and creativity into everything we do and pay attention to the things that make a difference
Stay open, be curious: we’re open about what we’re doing and why, and we welcome challenges from each other
