The Opportunity that lies ahead

We are looking for a Senior Performance Test Engineer to strengthen our capacity in identifying and resolving potential performance bottlenecks and ensuring optimal performance across all our systems. If you have a passion for performance optimization and a meticulous eye for detail, we invite you to become a pivotal part of our dynamic team.

In this crucial role, you will be leveraging advanced telemetry and Application Performance Management (APM) tools to monitor and improve the performance of our cloud-based services. Your expertise in black box performance testing and capacity planning will be instrumental in ensuring that our systems are not only robust but also scalable to meet future demands.

We are four squads responsible for building application capabilities and the underlying platform upon which Cloudsmith is founded. We operate in a highly collaborative environment, where people with different skills come together to make things happen. We have a good approach to CI/CD, and we support a global set of customers who are developers like us.

Our Technology Stack

We are cloud-native, born in AWS, and embrace their services across our platform. Our technology stack includes Python, Django, ECS, Postgres, Kinesis, Cloudfront, Flink, Elastic Search, Lambda, Amazonmq, Terraform, and Postgres. Tooling includes Datadog, Linear, Slack, Notion and CircleCI.

Your Responsibilities:

• Performance Testing: Conduct thorough black box performance tests to identify potential inefficiencies and bottlenecks in our systems.
• Telemetry and Monitoring: Utilize advanced telemetry tools to gather detailed performance data, providing insights into the operational characteristics of our platforms.
• APM Tools: Leverage APM tools effectively to monitor real-time system performance and preemptively address potential issues.
• Optimization Strategies: Develop and implement strategies for system enhancements, focusing on improving performance and reducing latency.
• Capacity Planning: Carry out capacity planning to ensure our infrastructure meets current and future operational demands efficiently.
• Collaboration: Work closely with development, operations, and product teams to align performance goals with business objectives and customer needs.

Required Skills and Experience

• Proven Experience: Extensive experience in performance testing and optimization, particularly within cloud environments.
• Technical Proficiency: Hands-on experience with telemetry and APM tools (e.g., Datadog, New Relic, Dynatrace). Scripting experience using Locust or similar.
• Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, capable of conducting comprehensive performance analyses.
• Communication: Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and report on findings and recommendations.
• Project Management: Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet critical deadlines.
