The role
As a DevOps Engineer at Modo Energy, you will not be starting from scratch but will play a crucial role in optimizing and expanding our existing infrastructure. You will be responsible for ensuring our systems are scalable, reliable, and efficient to meet future demands. This position requires a proactive approach to monitoring, maintaining, and improving our infrastructure, focusing on performance and scalability.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain and enhance our AWS-based infrastructure, ensuring scalability, availability and security to meet future feature delivery requirements.
- Review and improve DevOps processes according to industry best practices.
- Support and extend existing CI/CD pipelines.
- Implement and optimize automation processes, effective monitoring, and infrastructure-as-code using Terraform.
- Collaborate closely with our engineering teams to support the orchestration of our ETL pipelines using Airflow and manage our tech stack including Python, Next.js, Airflow, PostgreSQL MongoDB, Kafka and Apache Iceberg.
- Optimize infrastructure costs and develop strategies for efficient resource utilization.
- Provide critical support by monitoring services and quickly resolving production issues.
- Contribute to the development and support of new services as we expand our architecture to support multiple regions, transitioning to a microservices architecture.
- Cooperate with DevOps team members to participate in design sessions, share experience, perform peer reviews.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
- 2+ years of experience in a DevOps role, ideally within a startup environment.
- Strong experience with AWS, ECS, Docker, and managing databases.
- Understanding of Frontend and Backend technologies and Microservices patterns.
- Proficient in Python and infrastructure scripting with Terraform.
- Experience with monitoring, distributed tracing and managing complex deployments across multiple regions.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and capacity to work autonomously and adapt to a flexible, evolving environment.
- Preferred skills:
- Building CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience with AWS ECS.
- Experience in managing permissions and identity/access management across different teams and regions.
Important Details:
- We work in a Hybrid Environment: You split your time between working from home and working in our London office (Tuesday - Thursday).
