About The Match Factory

We're hiring a Senior Legal & Business Affairs Manager at The Match Factory, which is part of MUBI. This is a maternity cover with the possibility to extend the term beyond 12 months.

The Match Factory is a leading world sales and production company representing director-driven films by renowned filmmakers like Aki Kaurismäki, Alice Rohrwacher, Fatih Akin, Karim Ainouz, Christian Petzold, as well as young upcoming talents. Our films are regularly presented in festivals all over the world, including Berlin, Cannes, Venice, Toronto and have won the most prestigious of awards, such as the Oscar® Best International Feature, Golden Bear, Golden Palme and Golden Globe amongst others.

About The Role

You'll be joining our Business Affairs team at The Match Factory, playing a central role in the execution of all distribution agreements, specifically for sales & production teams.

You will focus on:

  • Advising on contractual key business terms at all stages of the negotiations

  • Supervising the implementation of our internal rights management system, along with implementation of any new software solutions

  • Draft and negotiate distribution agreements

  • Manage and draft a high volume of contracts with a fast turnaround

  • Liaising closely with the Finance team to coordinate the set up and maintenance of cash projects

  • Overseeing the Royalty reporting process from distribution partners

  • Ad-hoc planning and operational projects based on business need

What you will bring:

  • A strong understanding of IP law. Experience in either Business Affairs, Acquisition, or Sales will also be prioritised

  • Efficiency, preciseness and high attention to detail

  • Ability in working with rights management systems and data administration tools such as Google Workspace and Microsoft Office

  • Project management experience

  • Motivated to work both independently and collaboratively, and feel comfortable working as part of a team

  • Professional proficiency in English

  • (Desired) Previous experience in working with a rights management system

  • (Desired) Experience in the film/TV industry

  • (Desired) Professional proficiency in German
