Role Overview

The Payroll Analyst – India will be responsible for managing the end-to-end payroll process for employees based in India, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with all statutory requirements. This role will use the greytHR portal to process monthly payroll, collaborate with compliance partners for provident fund (PF), employee state insurance (ESI), tax deductions, and other statutory contributions, and support annual benefit elections and proof collection. The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring employees are paid accurately, statutory filings are met, and payroll records are properly maintained.

How you will make a difference:

  • Manage end-to-end monthly payroll processing using greytHR portal, including salary inputs, variable pay, leave encashments, bonuses, and adjustments.

  • Ensure accuracy of payroll data through reconciliation of inputs, validations, and variance checks before finalizing payroll.

  • Handle off-cycle payments as needed (e.g., final settlements, corrections).

  • Ensure timely and accurate calculation, deduction, and remittance of:

  • Collaborate with external compliance partners to submit statutory filings within deadlines.

  • Stay updated on India labor laws and payroll regulations to ensure compliance.

  • Track and validate employee tax declarations and proof submissions to ensure correct TDS deductions.

  • Address employee queries related to payroll, benefits, and taxation promptly and accurately.

  • Ensure records between HRIS (workday) and payroll are correct

  • Maintain complete and accurate payroll records for audits and compliance reviews.

  • Support internal and external audits (statutory, SOX, internal controls).

  • Generate payroll reports for Finance, HR, and management as required (costing, headcount, variance analysis).

  • Continuously review payroll processes for efficiency, accuracy, and compliance improvements.

  • Partner with HR and Finance teams to implement automation opportunities and streamline workflows.

What will make you stand out:

  • Proven experience in India payroll processing (preferably in a multinational environment).

  • Hands-on experience with greytHR or similar payroll software is highly preferred.

  • Strong knowledge of India payroll legislation, income tax rules, PF, ESI, PT, LWF, and compliance requirements.

  • Proficiency in MS Excel (vlookups, pivots, reconciliations).

  • Excellent attention to detail, analytical skills, and ability to work with sensitive data confidentially.

  • Strong communication skills to liaise with employees, compliance partners, and global functional teams.

  • Exposure to payroll audits and compliance inspections.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, global environment with tight deadlines
