What will this role be responsible for?

Creating a high-performing Solution Architecture Team

  • Own the skills development and development plans for the Solution Architecture discipline at Tyk and facilitate training to support progression of skills
  • Ensure our Solutions Architect specialists are equally skilled and equipped to deal with our clients and prospects.
  • Identify and develop the specific skills required in the region to ensure coverage of the complete technical stack
  • Train and enable internal teams on our product and market.
  • Ensure that Presales Solution Architects (PSA) are trained and able to handle all aspects of the role, including technical discovery, demos, prospect calls and accompanying POCs.
  • Ensure that Customer Solution Architects (CSA) are trained and able to handle all aspects of the role, including onboarding users, developing relationships and becoming technical partners to our clients.
  • Ensure that Channel Solution Architects (XSA) (region dependent) can onboard, train and certify partners and develop relationships that support and develop our partners' technical needs and skills.
  • Create the assets, artefacts and processes that enable our Solution Architecture teams to scale effectively

Developing a high-performance customer-centric culture

  • Enable Solution Architects to deliver a best-in-class customer experience, delighting our customers throughout their Tyk journey.
  • Fostering a proactive customer experience culture and helping Solution Architects to become highly skilled, more confident and better consultants.
  • Be a regional point of escalation for technical support and advice, able to act as a player/coach and play a key role in high-value customer situations.
  • Share your team's successes, ensure they are challenged and understand their goals, targets and expectations of them in their role.
  • Amplify the voice of Tyk: create and publish assets that expand the awareness of our product in the market; attend and participate in events to increase our share of mind with our target ICPs.

Goals, KPIs, technical targets

  • Work with the VP of Sales and Customer Success to:
    • Set individual and team goals for Solution Architects
    • Drive regional revenue and customer KPIs.
    • Set OKRs for the regional Solution Architecture team.

Experience/Competencies needed:

  • Experience with the Tyk platform or a directly comparable competitor or partner.
  • Background in software development and solution architecture.
  • Experience with Linux, scripting and related utilities.
  • Understanding of common internet technologies, protocols, standards and data formats.
  • A good understanding of DevOps and deployment practices and technologies (Puppet, Chef, Docker, Cloud services such as AWS and Azure, as well as IaaS such as OpenShift and Heroku).
  • A good understanding of databases and Tyk product dependencies: Mongo/Redis/DocDB, etc.
  • Comprehensive experience in backend engineering or solution architecture for complex systems.
  • Experience with software engineering best practices (e.g. unit testing, code reviews, design documentation).
  • Experience with and understanding of: K8s, EC2, AKS, Docker, GoLang, gRPC, GraphQL, SSL/TLS, Caching, Redis, Mongo, CI/CD.
  • Defining and managing proof of concepts.
  • Creating and documenting solution architectures.
  • Experience building applications in Go, C, or C++ is advantageous.
  • Domain expertise in API Management.
  • Competent people manager with a proven track record of developing high-performing teams.
