Developer Relations Advocate

We want Developers to recommend Tyk to their companies without being asked. And this role is integral to that.
We're looking for a Developer Advocate to build Tyk's presence in the communities where developers are already having conversations about API management, AI, and modern infrastructure. This isn't a polished marketing role. It's a platform building role; someone who will roll up their sleeves, learn things in public, create content as they go, and show up at the meetups and events where real practitioners gather. We fund the travel and stages, you build a real personal profile in the API/AI space.
You'll be writing, recording, talking, and travelling. You'll document real implementation stories, cover the ecosystem topics that developers actually care about (think EKS, Grafana, the AI/API intersection), and become a genuine, recognisable voice in the space. We'll invest in your profile as much as Tyk's - because we think they're the same thing.
This is a role for someone who wants to build something. If you're looking for a stable content treadmill, this isn't it. If you want to become a known name in the developer community and you're happy to earn that at a scrappy, fast-moving startup: keep reading.
Here's what you'll be getting up to:

Here's what you'll be getting up to:
- Creating regular written and video content covering API management, observability, AI/API topics, and real customer implementation experiences
- Attending and speaking at developer meetups and community events across Western Europe (targeting weekly or bi-weekly)
- Building and maintaining technical documentation that developers actually want to read
- Covering ecosystem integrations and how-tos: EKS setup, Grafana optimisation, OpenTelemetry, and more
- Engaging authentically with developer communities online and in person
- Feeding community insight back into product and marketing teams
Experience
- A computer science degree or equivalent technical background (you don't need to be a senior engineer, but you need to be able to read code, understand architecture, and get your hands dirty)
- Some experience creating content - writing, video, talks, or a combination - even if it's personal projects or university work
- Comfort speaking to small groups; meetups and community events should excite you, not fill you with dread
- Genuine curiosity about the API and infrastructure space
- Technical aptitude - you can learn fast, explain clearly, and go deep when needed
- A creator's instinct - you want to make things and put them out into the world
- Authentic communication style - people trust you because you're real, not polished
- Comfortable with travel across Western Europe as a regular part of the role
- Hustle, self-directed, and energised by a small team environment
- Passion for the AI/API space and where it's heading
- AI-native. Uses AI hourly, if not daily, but knows the difference between AI-assisted and AI slop
- Existing presence in developer communities (blog, YouTube, GitHub, conference talks)
- Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, observability tooling, or CI/CD pipelines
- Familiarity with API management concepts
Here's why you should join us:
- Everyone has unlimited paid holidays.
- We have total flexibility in hours, as we believe creativity flows better when our people are given freedom to decide when they are most productive. Everyone is unique after all
- Employee share scheme
- Generous maternity and paternity leave
- Volunteering Days
- Company retreats
- Employee Wellbeing platform
Our values tell the story of Tyk - here's how:
- It's ok to screw up!
- The only stupid idea, is the untested one!
- Trust starts with you - make it count!
- Assume best intent!
- Make things better!
